Subcultures
Any group interacting in a collective process together will generate elements of a subculture. Subcultures have a social function for the group, they often help communicate efficiently and can give a sense of belonging.

Translation
Interactions between different groups often require a process of translation, where spokespersons will reformulate their understanding in the name of their respective groups and seek together new common ground. This process is also a way of creating new subcultures.
Framing
Interactions between different groups often need to be organised to happen: they require framing.
